I heard this quote from @llcoolj While listening to his @masterclass and it not only cracked me up- but I had to pause for a second-to take it in.
It cracked me up, bc I have a two year old and am LITERALLY experiencing this frustration 3-4x a day when she gets dressed. .
She wants to do it all her self, and my job is to facilitate- (a hand pull from the sleeve here, and help with some pants being pulled over the butt there) .
but also, I’m there to LET her/ allow her TO feel frustrated- (which take all but 1.3 seconds) because then she’ll learn that there’s something on the other side of that feeling.
Whether your raising a child, growing a business, learning to bake the perfect cookies in HALF the time-
Things- take- TIME.
When we’re young, our tolerance to not “getting to where we want to be” is like a wick on a piece of dynamite—>
SUPER short when we’re two years old right? (two seconds of not getting the turtle neck off and it’s like someone just ran a dump truck over us)
But as we get older, develop ourselves, get rejected, grow our “resiliency” to change- our wick (hopefully) gets longer-
To which frustration doesn’t come as easy.
When these times arise, I breathe, take a step back- assess my direction and goals- and hopefully- pull the darn turtleneck over my dome.
Who loves them some turtlenecks?!😂🐢
