In celebration of International Women’s day, I wanted to post a #flexfriday of me at 6 years old.
-
This little girl (and my own) are TWO of MANY little girls that I think of. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I POST.
-
THIS little girl didn’t give a rats booty about what people thought of her outfit, her hair or a number on a scale-
This little girl THRIVED on movement- -
But NOT for punishment- -
Movement for JOY & PLAY and INTERACTION with her family & friends-
she tracked nothing, she counted nothing (besides her troll dolls) and loathed NOTHING about her body.
She had an ‘untouched by the culture’ relationship with her body.
-
NEVER thinking twice about the latest trend on “what the science NOW says about eggs” or attempting to restrict herself from finishing the WHOLE slice of cake at her best friends’ birthday party.
-
The idea of ‘healing her relationship with food’ was something SO obscure, you would have had a better chance of convincing her that ‘Oscar the grouch’ just got fired from Sesame Street.
-
On this day- that we focus on celebrating young & old women alike- let’s us ALL celebrate our “little girls” inside. -
Let’s continue to question, learn, evolve and challenge fitspo and diet culture—
because what these cultures subconsciously squash-
is those little girls inside us all. 👧🏻👧🏼👧🏽👧🏾👧🏿
